Game Gear

The Sega Game Gear – a fantastic handheld console that brought the Sega magic to the masses on the go! Released in 1990, the Game Gear was Sega’s answer to Nintendo’s Game Boy, and it packed a punch with its full-color backlit screen, a significant upgrade from the Game Boy’s monochrome display. With a library of games that included Sonic the Hedgehog, Shinobi, and Columns, the Game Gear had something for everyone. Although it had some issues with battery life, the Game Gear’s games and hardware held up well against its competitors, making it a beloved handheld console of the 1990s.
