The Nintendo Wii Mini, released in 2012, is a compact, budget‑friendly version of the original Wii that strips away several features to keep the price low: it omits GameCube compatibility, Wi‑Fi connectivity (and thus Wii Connect24, online multiplayer and the Wii Shop Channel), and the detachable controller ports, while retaining the classic Wii Remote and the iconic motion‑controlled gameplay. Housed in a glossy red or black plastic shell, it’s about half the size of the original console and plugs directly into a standard power outlet, making it ideal for casual players or as a secondary unit. Though it can’t access online services or play GameCube discs, the Wii Mini still runs the same library of Wii games and includes a bundled copy of “Wii Party,” offering a fun, affordable way to enjoy Nintendo’s family‑friendly titles in a smaller package.
