1541-II Floppy Drive

The Commodore 1541-II floppy disk drive is a 5.25-inch floppy disk drive designed for use with Commodore’s home computers, notably the Commodore 64 and VIC-20. Released in 1986, the 1541-II is an improved version of the original 1541 drive, offering enhanced reliability and compatibility. It uses Commodore’s proprietary GCR (Group Code Recording) encoding and supports the standard 170-kilobyte 5.25-inch floppy disk format. The drive connects to the computer via Commodore’s proprietary serial interface, facilitating data transfer and storage for users’ programs and data.
